Google isn’t alone in inching into the banner advertising space. Yahoo also is beginning to test new ad formats as part of its search marketing offerings.

A Yahoo Inc. spokeswoman confirmed this week that the company’s search-marketing division, formerly known as Overture Services, plans to start testing graphical banner ads displayed based on their relevancy to a Web page’s content in the next few weeks.

"We’re always looking at ways of enhancing our services," Yahoo spokeswoman Gaude Paez said. "There are a number of things we’re looking at doing [in search advertising], including tests we’ll begin for putting sponsored listings in a banner, graphical format."

SEATTLE — One element of Microsoft’s next OS will be Metro, a new document file-format that will support printing the fancy graphics effects in the client interface.

Metro is the code name for a new XML-based document technology framework, to appear in Longhorn, Microsoft’s next generation of Windows. Metro is an open-format page description language that allows users to share, print, view and archive the layout versions of documents. It’s designed to improve print fidelity while reducing file size to make printing more efficient.

A Microsoft executive downplayed the similarity, but the company’s description mirrors many elements of Adobe’s PostScript/PDF (define) technology.

Las repercusiones de ese informe (que me cansé de leer cientos entre ayer y hoy) en donde básicamente cuenta que leer emails y las interrupciones varias que tenemos día a día quiénes trabajamos con PCs nos reduce nuestro coeficiente intelectual, cosa que pude comprobar cuando vi algunas de las (tomaduras de pelo?) publicidades de microsoft: Evolve, en donde nos insta a dejar de ser dinosaurios y actualizar el Office, y StartSomething, basicamente con la misma idea pero para Windows XP (a pesar de no faltar tanto para la nueva versión).

Para aquellos que quieren pasar desapercibidos en una PC ( de la mano por ejemplo de llevar FireFox en un pendrive, cosa impensable con IE ) existe esta aplicación que elimina TODO registro de actividad producido por Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird y en general toda la suite de Mozilla. Elimina el historial de navegación, cookies, páginas cacheadas y email enviado.
